This week we look at this mountain top experience that is recorded in scripture that we call the Mt. of Transfiguration. This was a glorious event and Jesus takes his most trusted disciples as is his custom, Peter, James, and John. The appearance of Moses and Elijah gives us as readers some confident expectation that there is life after death. This event was not just for his disciples to see but more so for Jesus because he as looking for some comfort so he could face the events that were just beyond the horizon. This mountain proves that there is going to be glory after God’s plan is fulfilled, there is assurance that the mystery of the cross can be understood, and ultimately Jesus has the approval of his heavenly Father. Peter is still not there, and his response proves he is not thinking cross but thinking physical.
