Ending Well‼️A Proud King with A Bad Ending, Herod

By Pastor and Mrs Chifamba

Proverbs‬ ‭6‬:‭16‬-‭19‬ ‭

“These six things the Lord hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.”

‭‭

PRIDE IS A WAY OF DEIFYING ONESELF AND IT LEADS TO TERRIBLE CONSEQUENCES AS EXHIBITED IN THE LIFE OF HEROD

Psalms‬ ‭10‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭

“For the wicked boasts of his heart’s desire; He blesses the greedy and renounces the Lord. The wicked in his proud countenance does not seek God; God is in none of his thoughts.”

Acts‬ ‭12‬:‭20‬-‭23‬

“Now Herod had been very angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon; but they came to him with one accord, and having made Blastus the king’s personal aide their friend, they asked for peace, because their country was supplied with food by the king’s country. So on a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat on his throne and gave an oration to them. And the people kept shouting, “The voice of a god and not of a man!” Then immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give glory to God. And he was eaten by worms and died.”

‭‭

Daniel 4:37

Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.

Jeremiah‬ ‭9‬:‭23‬-‭24‬ ‭

“Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me, That I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,” says the Lord.”

BEWARE OF SPIRITUAL PRIDE IT IS WORSE THAN ANY OTHER TYPE OF PRIDE

Luke‬ ‭18‬:‭10‬-‭14‬ ‭

““Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.””

Isaiah‬ ‭64‬:‭6‬ ‭

“But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭7‬ ‭

“For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?”

Ephesians 2:8-10

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Psalms‬ ‭115‬:‭1‬ ‭

“Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, But to Your name give glory, Because of Your mercy, Because of Your truth.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭

“But “he who glories, let him glory in the Lord.” For not he who commends himself is approved, but whom the Lord commends.”

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭6‬:‭14‬ ‭

“But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.”

Revelation‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭

“…To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”
