Isaiah 62:6-7
I have set watchmen upon thy walls, O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night: ye that make mention of the LORD, keep not silence, 7And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.
Ephesians 6:18
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints
PRAYER REAL PRAYER IS COSTLY LOOK AT JACOB WRESTLING WITH GOD IN PRAYER
Genesis 32:24-32
And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day. 25And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob's thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him. 26And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me. 27And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob. 28And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed. 29And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there. 30And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.
Isaiah 35:3-5
Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees. 4Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.
Perseverance in prayer has been made a condition of receiving. We must pray always if we would grow in faith and experience. We are to be โinstant in prayer,โ to โcontinue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving.โ Romans 12:12; Colossians 4:2. Peter exhorts believers to be โsober, and watch unto prayer.โ 1 Peter 4:7. Paul directs, โIn everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.โ Philippians 4:6. โBut ye, beloved,โ says Jude, โpraying in the Holy Ghost, keep yourselves in the love of God.โ Jude 20, 21. Unceasing prayer is the unbroken union of the soul with God, so that life from God flows into our life; and from our life, purity and holiness flow back to God. โ {Steps to Christ p. 97.2}
Hebrews 5:7-9
Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared; 8Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; 9And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him
CHRIST PERSEVERED UNTO SWEAT AND BLOOD IN PRAYER
Luke 22:40-44
And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation. 41And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, 42Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. 43And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. 44And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
Hebrews 12:2-4
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. 4Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.
SOME OF THE RESULTS OF OUR PERSEVERANCE IN PRAYER WILL ONLY BE SEEN IN HEAVEN
