What the Bible 📖 Says about Baptism‼️
By Pastor and Mrs Chifamba
BAPTISM IS THE ENTRY POINT INTO THE FAMILY OF GOD
Ephesians 3:14-15
For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
Ephesians 4:4-6
There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; 5One Lord, one faith, one baptism, 6One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
IS IT NECESSARY FOR ONE TO BE BAPTIZED?
Mark 16:15-16
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
John 3:3-5
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
BIBLICAL BAPTISM USES WATER AS THE MEDIUM FOR THIS IMPORTANT CEREMONY
John 3:23
And John also was baptizing in Ænon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.
Matthew 3:16-17
And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Acts 8:37-39
And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. 39And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
THE BIBLE SAYS BAPTISM IS BY IMMERSION. IT REPRESENTS THE DEATH AND RESURRECTION OF JESUS WHICH IS A FIGURE TO OUR DEATH TO SIN AND RISING UP INTO THE NEWNESS OF LIFE.
Romans 6:1-4
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
THE GREEK WORD FOR BAPTISM IS “BAPTIZO” WHICH MEANS TO “DIP” TO “IMMERSE” TO “PLUNGE” UNDER WATER THEREFORE BAPTISM IS BURIAL OF OUR SINS IN THE WATERY GRAVE! AND WE RISE UP TO WALK IN THE NEW LIFE.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Colossians 3:5-10
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry: 6For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: 7In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them. 8But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth. 9Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds; 10And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him
Colossians 3:1-2
If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
