What the Bible 📖 says about Giving and Receiving Bribes‼️
By Pastor and Mrs Chifamba
THROUGHOUT THE ENTER GLOBE 🌍 ECONOMIES ARE NOT DOING WELL. UNFORTUNATELY BAD ECONOMIES ARE FERTILE GROUNDS FOR CORRUPTION AND BRIBES. HOWEVER GOD’S WORD SAYS NO ❌ TO BRIBES AND CORRUPTION, IRREGARDLESS OF THE ECONOMIC CONDITIONS. “EVERYONE IS DOING IT” DOES NOT MAKE IT RIGHT!
Philippians 2:14-15 ESV
“Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,”
Exodus 23:2-3 NIV
“Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd, and do not show favoritism to a poor person in a lawsuit.”
Exodus 23:6-8 NIV
“Do not deny justice to your poor people in their lawsuits. Have nothing to do with a false charge and do not put an innocent or honest person to death, for I will not acquit the guilty. “Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds those who see and twists the words of the innocent.”
Deuteronomy 16:19-20 NKJV
“You shall not pervert justice; you shall not show partiality, nor take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous. You shall follow what is altogether just, that you may live and inherit the land which the Lord your God is giving you.”
God is very particular that all who profess to serve Him shall manifest the superiority of right principles. By the true follower of Christ every business transaction will be regarded as a part of his religion, just as prayer is a part of his religion.... – {Counsels on Stewardship p.143.2}
Amos 5:12
For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the poor in the gate from their right.
The greatest want of the world is the want of men—men who will not be bought or sold, men who in their inmost souls are true and honest, men who do not fear to call sin by its right name, men whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole, men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall. – {Education p. 57.3}
1 Samuel 12:1-5
And Samuel said unto all Israel, Behold, I have hearkened unto your voice in all that ye said unto me, and have made a king over you. 2And now, behold, the king walketh before you: and I am old and grayheaded; and, behold, my sons are with you: and I have walked before you from my childhood unto this day. 3Behold, here I am: witness against me before the LORD, and before his anointed: whose ox have I taken? or whose ass have I taken? or whom have I defrauded? whom have I oppressed? or of whose hand have I received any bribe to blind mine eyes therewith? and I will restore it you. 4And they said, Thou hast not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither hast thou taken ought of any man's hand. 5And he said unto them, The LORD is witness against you, and his anointed is witness this day, that ye have not found ought in my hand. And they answered, He is witness.
Christianity is not to be merely paraded on the Sabbath and displayed in the sanctuary; it is for every day in the week and for every place. Its claims must be recognized and obeyed in the workshop, at home, and in business transactions with brethren and with the world....
It is better to die than to sin; better to want than to defraud; better to hunger thanto lie. – {Conflict and Courage p. 119}
THOSE THAT SHALL ENTER INTO HEAVEN WILL BE PEOPLE WHO SHAKE THEIR HANDS FROM RECEIVING AND GIVING BRIBES
Isaiah 33:14-15 ESV
“The sinners in Zion are afraid; trembling has seized the godless: “Who among us can dwell with the consuming fire? Who among us can dwell with everlasting burnings?” He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly, who despises the gain of oppressions, who shakes his hands, lest they hold …
