Am I rooted in Christ? This episode goes back to the excuses versus opportunities in life. Am I using my time in a way that is blocking me or in a way that is rooting me? We decide what we focus on, spend time on, and ultimately what we are rooted in. Corrie ten Boom said it perfectly, “If the devil cannot make us bad, he will make us busy.” And oh boy can it get busy! Busyness can be a distraction. It can make us feel like we are being productive but busy does not always mean productive. I think of Eve, Martha and David and how they all faltered in their distractions. But I think of Nehemiah and how despite so many distractions, he continued on what he was called to do, rebuilding the wall around Jerusalem. Still, there are so many wrong voices out there; therefore, we must learn God deeper to know His voice over the others. Ultimately, we decide what we use our time on. Will it be ignoring “the knots” we need to take care of or will it be fostering the roots of revival? Let’s prioritize what matters, growing deep spiritual roots while also taking care of the thorns or “knots” in life that may otherwise choke out the growth. What are we rooted in? What are we sowing? What are we watering and allowing to grow in our lives?
