God’s grace can turn certain defeat into a surprising victory. Judah and Israel unite to take on the Moabites. When Moab thinks Israel is weak, they rush to attack but Israel rises up and makes great defeat over the Moabites. Although Israel is in exile and everything looks grim, they have great victory through God’s grace. This is seen all throughout Israel’s history and is ultimately climaxed in what seemed like Christ’s certain defeat to death, but through grace became a surprising victory.
