Sean MacDonald is a co-founder and partner at Portside Law LLP. He was born and raised in Sydney River, then moved to the big city to complete his undergraduate in Political Science and a law degree at Dalhousie University in Halifax. Following law school, he moved to Calgary to begin his legal practice in commercial litigation at Borden Ladner Gervais, but his Nova Scotia roots would eventually call him home.
After four years in Alberta, he and his wife moved back east to Halifax to put down roots and start a family. Once settled, he broadened his legal practice to many different areas of law.
In 2014, Sean and his family made one final move eastward to return home to our little island of Cape Breton. He founded Portside Law in 2018 with Dan MacDonald - and yes, they are cousins.
In addition to running a busy practice and having fun with his family, Sean volunteers in the community with organizations like Three Brothers Project, Basketball Cape Breton, Kiwanis and Motionball, as well as serving on the executive of the Cape Breton Barristers' Society and the Cape Breton Regional Chamber of Commerce.
