Description

sunshine cathedral and the Florida LGBTQ+ community turned Stonewall Pride into a protest. June is Pride Month, commemorating the Stonewall Uprising on June 28, 1969, when police raided the Stonewall Inn, and the patrons fought back. Pride parades are held worldwide to memorialize and celebrate the Stonewall riots, including the Stonewall Pride Parade and Street Festival in Florida. Governor Ron DeSantis has been attacking LGBTQ+ rights, targeting schools, youth, drag performers, and trans siblings. Laws targeting and prohibiting drag and trans performers at Pride events are calling for action. Join the protest and march with Sunshine Cathedral on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Wilton Manor Stonewall Pride. Contact Reverend Dr. Robert Griffin at robert@sunshinecathedral.org to participate and march. The ban on drag performances in a Pride parade is reprehensible, as drag and transgender heroes sparked the Stonewall Uprising. It is crucial to march in protest and support trans siblings and drag performers. Every Pride parade has been a march for rights, and now we are fighting to keep rights that are being taken away. The attacks on the LGBTQ+ community are about erasing queer people, white supremacy, and Christian nationalism. Saving the children is an easy fallback, and it is vital to stand up for our community.
