Description

Welcome to the very first episode of the High Sensory People Podcast with Jane Elizabeth Aston and Elisha May!

We are High Sensory People, which means that like 20-30% of the world’s population, we were born with the genetic trait now referred to as High Sensory Intelligence®. The scientific name of the trait is Sensory Processing Sensitivity (SPS) but it’s commonly known right now as being highly sensitive. We are passionate about raising awareness about the HSP trait and reframing it from being highly sensitive to High Sensory. We want to increase the visibility of the trait, change how the world sees High Sensory People, and inspire and empower all HSPs.

In this episode, we cover three introductory topics to introduce ourselves, and the High Sensory trait. We talk about how we discovered we are High Sensory People, how being HSP impacted our lives before we knew about it, and how life changing it was when we each found out that we were born with a genetic trait that means we’re wired differently to the majority.

We also explain why we called this podcast High Sensory People, and why we prefer the terms High Sensory to highly sensitive, because we believe that it doesn’t do justice to the extraordinary qualities and abilities that we have as High Sensory People.

We believe that High Sensory People are so needed in the world, but the trait is not well known, and can be misunderstood. We want to help to change that, and we would love you to join us on this journey!

Thank you to Elisha’s brother Nathan Wills for the wonderful original music.

And finally,  an apology…

We say in the show that Dr. Elaine Aron said that she wished she had never used the word “sensitive” to describe the SPS trait. However, this may not actually be true, so please accept our apologies for this misquote. We are eternally grateful to Dr. Aron for all of her research and for bringing this trait to the attention of the world. You can find out more about her wonderful work, and do the original HSP test on Dr. Elaine Aron’s website.
