This month, we were honored to connect with Michael Andrews (he/him), a proud tribal member of the Pyramid Lake Paiute, Kickapoo, Sac & Fox, and Ojibwe tribes. Michael works at IHC as our Prevention Services Supervisor. During our insightful discussion, Michael shared details about the Youth Workforce Development program offered through our Prevention Services program at the Indian Health Center. This program provides youth with skills such as interview techniques, professional attire, resume building, and workplace etiquette. Participants receive a stipend and exposure to various job opportunities in their chosen field, emerging from the program as professionals. Specifically tailored for native youth, it also serves as a mentorship program as they transition into the professional world.
"' Youth who participate in our Youth Workforce Development Program not only receive a stipend upon joining but also emerge from the program with increased confidence for interviews and a greater ease in responding to potential employers' questions.'"- Michael Andrews.
