I, Rev. Phil Dieke, had the opportunity to sit down with a colleague I went to seminary with, Rev. Emily Everett, who is now a United Methodist missionary serving in Brazil (though currently in the US... due to the ongoing global pandemic), specifically with the project Shade and Fresh Water. We were also joined by Emily's colleague and a Social Educator at Shade and Fresh Water, Silene Rodrigues dos Santos.
We talk about the significance of the name "Shade and Fresh Water," the connection between their work raising a generation, and the similarities between their work and the work we commit to, as the church, through Baptism.
Such an intriguing conversation, and loved the opportunity to connect with a new ministry and somebody in Brazil! Thank you technology.
