Such ‘socio-economic determinants of health’ may have serious implications for the future of these children in society and in the workplace, and in the self-management of their health. Practically, we see evidence of this problem among health professionals – as a result, not all health professionals within the same profession are equal in their functional literacy, and in their resultant clinical insights and abilities.
