This week, Stan and Michael discuss the first look at the revised national management guidelines for type 2 diabetes at the recent SEMDSA Congress. Pleasingly, both included the voice of people with diabetes and focussed on what outcomes are clinically meaningful for them. Stan highlights an article from Nature reviewing access-enhancing progress in ‘open source’ software among people with diabetes. This increases access to usually costly medical devices like closed loop insulin pumps. Michael shares research on insulin viability in under-resourced settings - with the good news of the extra margin revealed, he reminds listeners on the value of correct insulin storage.

Our studio guest is Dr Angela Murphy, a Specialist Physician at the Sunward Park Medical Centre in Boksburg. Angela runs a CDE Diabetes Centre and is part of the multidisciplinary team of the Sunward Park Bariatric Centre of Excellence.
