ThIs movie tanked in the 80’s but became a cult classic for horror fans. Stan Winston and Tom Woodruff combine their monster FX, puppeteering, and creature make-up expertise to bring us the suspiciously xenomorph-ish looking demon of the hills, Pumpkinhead! No CGI, no bs, just good ol fashioned Chuck E Cheese Animatronics, and a killer story of revenge and regret. Lance Henriksen’s acting carries the movie’s serious tones and tamber throughout the whole film, creating the perfect synergy needed to give this film its cult movie status. I loved the sound stage feeling and framed shots as they bombarded me with canned lightning and mood inducing light filters. This is a movie made for sleepovers and halloween parties. It never tries to be funny, but knows what it is. And the witch in this movie, absolute GOLD!
So cuddle up on the couch with your bestie, your lovee, or your favorite furry chonk, turn off the lights, and let’s have some fun, this is PUMPKINHEAD!
