Description

The social topic to be discussed in this episode of the podcast is on Cybersecurity and themed, “Risk and Vulnerability of Children Online”.

Although the internet and the digital communication have helped deliver immense benefits to the world, malicious actors continue to actively look for new ways to exploit its vulnerabilities. Cybersecurity is a generic term used to describe the infrastructure of technologies, processes and practices used to protect networks, data and technology from unauthorised access or other forms of cyberattacks.

Our experiences with clients have shown us how anyone can be a victim of cybercrime, especially children who have unrestricted access to the internet. On the internet, children are liable to become exposed to cyber-bullying, online grooming, online pornography, catfishing, privacy and identity theft, sexting and all other forms of cyber risks.

Our guest speaker is Mr. Nelson Herald Darko, a Senior Manager of the Child Online Protection Division of the Cyber Security Authority of Ghana. He elucidates us on the potential cyber risks children face, as well as some efficient methods children can employ to safeguard themselves from digital threats.
