Description

Here's the first episode of a short series of just 4 podcasts where I am speaking with Gary Jones from Grow Radio, a podcast professional.

I’m launching a new podcast and Gary will be helping me over the next four weeks and you can listen in and find out how easy it really is to start a podcast.

Over the next four weeks we'll be helping you to get started too.

Join us live on YouTube each Tuesday at 12:30pm GMT to get involved and ask your specific questions.

In this week's episode we discussed launching podcasts.

Reasons for starting a podcast include meeting new people, practicing public speaking, and having fun. For businesses, a podcast sets you apart, allows non-sales communication with clients, and provides valuable content for the community.

I expressed initial hesitation about podcasting complexity but plan to debunk myths. The conversation explores the benefits of having a podcast for personal growth, business, and community engagement.

We discuss the option of going live versus recording video or audio-only podcasts. The importance of choosing a format that suits the individual is emphasized.

We also talk about equipment, highlighting the initial use of basic tools and the significance of content over equipment quality.

I share the inspiration behind my podcast, focusing on getting to know people and their stories. I emphasize the value of podcasts for learning, citing personal experiences in marketing. The discussion also addresses the flexibility of podcast recording, emphasizing the potential for anyone to start with minimal equipment.

We discuss podcast frequency and the benefits of batch recording, suggesting a limit of three to four episodes in a single recording session. Consistency is crucial, and Gary shares his experience of exhaustion after attempting six consecutive recordings.

We also explore podcast titles, emphasizing the importance of short, snappy, and searchable names related to the content. I even had some suggestions!

Gary explains all about audience identification and content alignment, stressing the importance of creating content that benefits both the audience and the podcast creator. It’s important to align passion with the audience's needs to create valuable content.

Another question that came in live asked about preparing guests before the podcast, with Gary recommending informing them about potential questions. We highlight the value of making guests comfortable and ensuring a natural, banter-filled conversation.

In summary, the podcast recording covers various aspects of podcasting, from reasons to start one, equipment considerations, and frequency of episodes to preparing guests and choosing a suitable title.

Gary provides strategic advice on the best time to launch and whether to release multiple episodes at once or space them out for consistency
