Sally’s Journey: From serving 22 years in the Royal Army Medical Corps to becoming a full-time marathon runner dressed as fruit (yes, fruit!), Sally shared how her unique approach helps spread awareness about mental health.
Mental Health Advocacy: Sally opened up about her personal struggles with depression and anxiety, including a pivotal moment where she wrote a suicide note, believing the world would be better off without her. Through her story, she stressed the importance of talking about mental health openly.
Running for a Cause: Sally has run marathons on every continent (even Antarctica!), often in costume. Whether dressed as an orange or frozen peas, she uses her platform to change the conversation around mental health.
Guinness World Records: Not only does she have six Guinness World Records, but she also has another five world firsts! One of the most memorable records is running the world’s deepest underground marathon in a mine.
Sahara Mishap: Sally shared a hilarious story from the Marathon des Sables when she accidentally drank from her tentmate’s pee bottle—definitely one for the books!
“Lamppost by Lamppost”: Sally's strategy of breaking overwhelming tasks into manageable pieces—like running to the next lamppost—became a beautiful metaphor for life’s challenges.
