Turning Conversations into Art!
What happens when words become art?
This week on the Friday Club, Odessa, Victoria, and Ashley welcomed the amazingly talented Andy Gray, who blew us away by live-sketching our conversation right before our eyes! 😲
Meet Andy GrayAndy is not just any artist—he’s a graphic recording expert and illustrator who captures the essence of live talks, events, and even casual chats through his drawings.
His company, OneGreyDot, specialises in turning dialogue into visual masterpieces, making every moment memorable. BOOM!!!
What Did We Chat About?
The Magic of Graphic Recording: Andy shared how he listens to conversations, breaks them down, and then draws out the key points in real-time. His ability to visualise ideas on the fly is nothing short of fascinating.
From Passion to Profession: We learned how Andy turned his passion for art into a career, combining creativity with real-time storytelling.
Memory Magic: Andy revealed his secret weapon—advanced memory techniques that allow him to recall and sketch complex conversations even after they’re over. He’s even offering a free memory coaching session for keynote speakers who want to master their notes!
Community Impact: One of the most touching stories was how Andy used his talents to help a community struggling with knife crime, visually capturing the emotions and ideas of the local church working towards positive change.
Word of the Week: Cromulent – A humorous term meaning 'acceptable' or 'valid.' The crew had a blast with this one!

Andy Gray is a specialist in illustration in front of big audiences, live drawing speakers' stories on walls of paper to help them stand out and be remembered. His aim is for keynote presenters to be remembered not just for who they are, but for what they say. He also offers free memory technique training to help speakers remember their keynotes efficiently and connect confidently with their audiences.
Andy is many things... From an illustrator (he has illustrated an award-winning children's book) to a DJ, magician, and even a Church of England minister (though a quirky, different type of one... he gets bored in his own sermons if they aren't fun enough, so he prefers to crowdsource his sermons live). He lives in the heart of Somerset with his wife, sons, dog, cat, and a lizard named Daisy. For fun, he goes indoor climbing with his sons and cycles road bikes.
