In this episode, I speak with Josee. She tells me of her 3 different birth experiences and how they have shaped her into being the woman that she is today. Her first birth, under the care of an OB created the perfect recipe for unnecessary interventions that lead to a vacuum extraction for a “too small pelvis”. After that experience Josee felt as though her body was broken but kept questioning if all that had happened to her was even necessary.
Then moving forward, Josee wanted to do things differently, so she hired a local Medical Midwife to have a home birth. During this birth, the overreaching fear of the Medical Midwives lead to an unnecessary transfer and completely botched golden hour.
For her third, Josee took her power back completely to birth her baby without any medical providers. Only having her mother present, Josee was able to have the birth and the golden hour the she had been envisioning for so long.
