Today, I’m speaking with Meghann. We talk about her journey into pregnancy at 40 years of age. She and her husband took intentional time to prepare for bringing their baby into the physical world, but even with that preparation there was the awareness for the lack of knowledge that Meghann was missing and coming to terms with the very deep programming about pregnancy and birth in our current culture.
Meghann knew what she wanted for her birth and felt that there wouldn’t be a bridge for the gap of what she wanted and what was available within systemic birth. After more research of physiologic birth and reading stories of women birthing in the early 1900’s and current births outside the medical system, Meghann was able to make her own informed decisions and feel secure in the choices that she was making within this pregnancy while working with Medical Midwives.
Meghann found a new team of women to support her in the way she had envisioned for herself and her child and by the time her baby was ready to be born, she was close to 43 weeks gestation.
I’m very grateful to have this story of a mother allowing her body and her baby to naturally start the birth process and not being pressured into an unnecessary induction for a baby being within the womb past 41 weeks.
