- Summary: Catching up and filling it in for March.
March comes to an end
- An interesting month, but not as much as it could be.
- One actual year!
- More Hardware on the Horizon
- Vegas is bigger than the City of…
Volunteering on Projects
- We have implemented our Agile for Volunteers policies
- This is a two-way street that is rarely actually free
- Our whole-team approach includes collaboration on specs and projects
- Volunteers in all areas are welcome, Coders and Creators alike!
CodeFor and CreateFor Vegas
- Inclusivity starts with words and labels, and use of *only* Code was a distraction
- Our formal name is more inclusive and aligns with City of Las Vegas branding as an Innovation hub
- We continue to focus on technical projects from the Code angle
- Every project also needs a variety of non-code components, from user interface to documentation to visualizations to audio content to language translation… Create!
Fun Stuff
- Visit at Battle Bots studio, interesting nerdy discussions and potential plans, stay tuned!
- Adding some AI to the mix… as a tool, AI is getting really interesting. Look for AI and ML to make appearances in all projects (as a tool, not as a solution)
- We will pursue an open source microfarm project this year that will make use of RISC-V hardware and sensors!
- Our Accessibility project for the physical and digital worlds from 2022, deemed *not interesting* by some, is actually quite interesting and will need some creativity for the human experience…
- Our websites (Yes, we have a few domains) need help. One person can do everything, but that takes much longer than some teamwork might. Stay tuned in the mean time.
- As a Smart City, we should be looking at ways to communicate more effectively than via the usual Social Media Platforms. Our Smart Social project is one piece of this experiment.
