Show Notes
- - Host: Dan Hugo
- - Summary: What is our Open Transit project, why did we begin with it, where is it at today?
To reason why
- - Very first hackathon
- - Low-hanging fruit
- - Multi-discipline undertaking
What Works?
- - The buses run, mostly
- - There is a set of GTFS schedule and realtime data available
- - We can use those GTFS Data to build our own services!
What Doesn´t?
- - The Estimator in use today is not always accurate
- - Phantom buses, incorrect telemetry data, dropped feed data…
- - Non-accessible user application
- - Mobile-only, where is the desktop client?
- - Language translations!
- - Rider feedback
- - Notifications (aka Alerts) to riders ahead of time!
- - The list goes on.
What are we doing?
- - Volunteers taking on the challenge!
- - Local innovation by people who use Public Transit
- - Co-creation with others who use and depend upon public transit
- - As we deploy, we can use that co-creation engagement to improve all the time!
Value-for-value Model
- - All of our projects are volunteer-driven
- - Opportunities to learn, and to build real solutions
- - As we deploy, our Labs projects will be open for donations, jobs, etc.
- - Support your local innovators volunteering their time!
