- Summary: As we switch on the mandatory weekly local lead meetings, the details of the upcoming hackathon on 7 and 8 October will become more clear. Or less.
The tl;dr
- Sign up today for the hackathon which begins 9am Pacific Time 7 October 2023
- Visit our [Local Event Page](https://www.spaceappschallenge.org/2023/locations/las-vegas-nv/) on the [NASA Portal ](https://spaceappschallenge.org) to sign up or to learn more about the Big Event!
- Our event will be hybrid, in-person and remote, so you can join in wherever you are, on this planet or some other.
The Latest
- The challenge topics for 2023 will be very similar to the challenge topics from previous, especially recent years previous. Those links are not yet published on the NASA Portal but they will be soon (or we can tell you for your early ponderings).
- Official NASA Policies regarding minor-age participation and parental permissions and presence are to be written out for publication, so that we are all on the same page. This is a NASA event, but we already support any-age events, so the question will come down to parent or guardian presence and oversight during the event.
- The opening ceremonies of the hackathon itself begin at 0000 GMT, while the actual hackathon commences on October 7 at 9:00 am **Local Time** and runs for 38 hours and 59 minutes, to October 8 at 11:59 pm **Local Time**.
First Time Hackathon?
- We will have an early Hackathon Bootcamp of sorts, replacing our normal August Monthly Hackathon Meetup on 26 August at 10am at the International Innovation Center in Downtown Las Vegas.
- We will have the main Hackathon Bootcamp and Team Meetup event in place of our September Monthly Hackathon Meetup, 23 September at 9am at the International Innovation Center in Downtown Las Vegas. This is the last stop before the main event!
- It will be beneficial for you and your team mates to know what a hackathon is and how you can make the most of one, and this familiarity needs to begin before the hackathon begins.
Stay In Touch
- Our main website will have links to current information, so visit there!
- We have a Discord Server which has not been so useful for our own projects and community so far, but we shall see moving forward. There is a Space Apps channel and discussion forum, link from our website!
- We will have a mailing list (yes, good old email) to keep our partners, sponsors, and other enablers informed with the mandatory weekly Local Lead meetings beginning in August. I am the Local Lead for Las Vegas, I got this.
