  • Host: Dan Hugo

  • Summary: October 7 fast approaches, the details of the 2023 NASA International Space Apps Challenge are coming together, will Las Vegas have enough participation to hold our event?

Quick History

  • The last time ISAC had a Las Vegas event was 2021, with 28 participants

  • Projects were submitted by 4 teams, made up of 12 of the 28 people

  • Where did those 12 people go? One still remains in Las Vegas, maybe…

The Challenges

  • There are 31 challenges. There were 30, now 31. Will there be more?

  • One that may hit close to home here, Everything Starts with Water

  • Important to realize that teams with diverse skill sets and interests will have more fun and success with these.

The Hackathon

  • The traditional hackathon is an all-nighter. This one is 38 hours, 59 minutes. In a row.

  • Pencils-up at 9am sharp, 7 October 2023. We hope to have enough people for multiple local locations, plus possibly a satellite location in California.

  • Pencils-down at 11:59pm sharp, 8 October 2023. Submit projects for judging and relax!

  • During the hackathon, it will be extremely valuable to have prepared ahead of time and planned a strategy to take on a select challenge.

The Practice Hackathon

  • We have a dry run on 23 and 24 September… this is a good idea!

  • If you have never participated in a hackathon before, it is important to be prepared, and it will be more fun if your team is ready to go when the timer starts.

  • Really, this is important: Do not arrive and start planning after the event begins. You will not have a good time.
