Description

On today's episode, I had the opportunity to chat with the owner of Local Honey Beauty Hive - Jen Bohlen! As the salon approaches its official 3rd anniversary, we're talking all about the story behind the brand and how Jen has grown LH into the Niagara Street staple that it has become!

Throughout Jen's career, she always knew that she wanted to be a hair stylist. From graduating college with a communications degree to being a writer on Channel 4 news, she never lost sight of that passion and eventually decided to go to cosmetology school in the midst of working overnights. Eventually, as the years went on, she became a co-owner of a different salon - but it still didn't feel like the right fit. So she decided, with a few other stylists, to leave and begin growing Local Honey.

What started as an old wire factory at 1255 Niagara Street, had quickly transformed into the salon space it is today - natural lighting, polished tile, gold accents, and greenery everywhere. Under three years, Jen organically grew Local Honey from 3 stylists to 10, created an entire boutique retail space, and opened rental suites for additional brands such as Brows by Analyn and Buffalo Brows and Lash Lounge.

What's coming up in year 4 for Local Honey? What has this whole experience been like for Jen of being a salon owner from the ground up? And I ask Jen the most challenging question of all - what is her number one piece of advice for taking care of your hair??

Tune in to hear it all!
