Maria arrived in Australia 35 years ago as a refugee from Afghanistan. Maria has a long experience helping Afghan communities through her interpreting work in 5 languages. As a result of her own personal, family and her community experiences, she is deeply committed to social and societal justice issues. Maria started 'AFG Young Leaders' to develop and hold regular gatherings that fostered intergenerational exchange of knowledge and culture between members of the Afghan community.
