As I listened to the latest episode of the 2A Warrior Podcast, I was struck by a powerful story of mentorship and resilience. The podcast host Ryan shared how his daughter, Paisley, had been thriving on TikTok, gaining a large following through her makeup tutorials. However, jealousy from some of her friends at school led to her account being banned, and she lost a significant portion of her followers.

While on a trip to Mexico, Ryan received a text from Paisley asking if Darrel Eves, a successful YouTube mentor, was there. Ryan replied in the affirmative and promised to get a selfie with him for Paisley. When Ryan finally met Darrell, he showed him one of Paisley's TikTok videos, and Darrell was impressed. He offered to mentor Paisley for free for 12 weeks, an opportunity worth $15,000.

To earn this mentorship, Darrell gave Paisley two assignments.

First, he assigned her to study and analyze the successful YouTube channel of one of his students, who had gained almost 800,000 subscribers in six months.

The second task was for Paisley to decide the one thing her channel would focus on.

When Paisley completed these two assignments and submitted a 10-page report to Darrell, he agreed to become her mentor.

Here are five key takeaways from this inspiring story:

  1. Resilience in the Face of Adversity: Paisley didn't give up despite losing her TikTok account due to jealousy and other negative behaviors from her peers. Instead, she continued to work hard and seek out new opportunities to grow her influence.
  2. The Importance of Networking: Ryan's connection to Darrel Eves was instrumental in helping Paisley get her big break on YouTube. This story is a reminder of the importance of building relationships and being open to opportunities that may arise from them.
  3. The Power of Mentorship: Darrel Eve's mentorship and guidance helped Paisley to focus her efforts and develop a plan of action for her YouTube channel. A good mentor can be a game-changer for anyone trying to build a career or pursue a passion.
  4. The Value of Hard Work: Paisley had to complete two challenging assignments to earn her mentorship from Darrel. Her commitment to doing the work and putting in the effort is an excellent example for anyone looking to succeed.
  5. The Importance of Having a Plan: As Darrell pointed out, it's essential to understand what you want to do and create a plan of action to achieve it.
