This sermon unpacks the powerful encounter between Jesus and the demon-possessed man in Mark 5:1-20. We’ll explore the man’s broken condition—living among the tombs, abandoned by society, and bound by spiritual chains that no human could break. When he runs to Jesus and worships, we see something striking: though he acknowledges Jesus as the "Son of the Most High God," there’s something flawed in his worship. It’s driven not by love or surrender but by fear and opposition.
Through this dramatic account, we’ll look at how Jesus has the power to bring total freedom, breaking every chain and restoring wholeness to the broken. We’ll also challenge ourselves to reflect on the nature of our worship. Is it genuine and from the heart, or is it surface-level and self-serving? Finally, we’ll be reminded of the call to share our testimony, just as the redeemed man was sent back to proclaim what Jesus had done for him.
This message invites us to embrace true worship, trust in Jesus’ transformative power, and boldly share the story of His compassion and grace.
