Description

In this sermon, we'll explore the theme of divine direction through the story of Noah. We'll start with Genesis 6:22, where Noah follows God's commands to build an ark despite the lack of prior knowledge or resources. Noah couldn't rely on friends, books, or any existing expertise; he had to trust solely in God's detailed directions. This highlights the crucial point that living a life directed by God means taking our direction directly from Him, as emphasized in Proverbs 3:5-6.

We'll then discuss how Noah's obedience, though challenging, was ultimately worth it for him, his family, and humanity. Following God's direction often means stepping out of our comfort zones and bringing our faith to the forefront. As Revelation 2:7 and other verses remind us, it's vital to listen to what the Spirit says and follow God's guidance, even when it moves us against the cultural grain. Noah lived in a corrupt and violent time, yet he remained righteous and obedient, demonstrating that a God-directed life will always be counter-cultural.

Finally, we'll consider the reassurance that comes with living a life directed by God. Despite the immense challenge, God was working through Noah's obedience. Genesis 6:9 and 2 Peter 2:5 show that Noah was righteous and walked with God, serving as a preacher of righteousness amidst a corrupt world. This encourages us to trust that when we live according to God's direction, He is orchestrating everything for our good, no matter how daunting the task may seem.
