This sermon delves into the essential elements of the doctrine of salvation, following the order of salvation (ordo salutis) as laid out in Scripture. Salvation is not a one-time event, but a transformative journey through different stages: justification, sanctification, glorification, and adoption.
Justified (Romans 3:23-24): We begin by understanding how we are justified freely by God’s grace, saved from the penalty of sin through Christ's redemptive work. Despite our sinful nature, we are declared righteous by faith in Jesus.
Sanctified (2 Timothy 2:21): The process of sanctification follows as we are continually set apart for God's purpose. We learn how to purge ourselves from sin and become vessels of honor, prepared for every good work God calls us to do.
Glorified (Romans 8:30): The ultimate promise for the believer is glorification—where we are transformed and conformed to the image of Christ. This stage highlights the fulfillment of God's eternal plan for those who are predestined, called, and justified.
Adopted (Galatians 4:5-9): Finally, we reflect on the beautiful reality of adoption. Through Christ, we have been brought into God’s family as sons and daughters, no longer under the law but living as heirs in His kingdom.
In this sermon, the congregation will be encouraged to not only understand the sequence of salvation but also to live in the fullness of each stage—knowing they are justified, sanctified, glorified, and adopted into the family of God.
