This passage teaches us the attitudes that we need to have in order to hear God. It says everyone should be quick to listen, not speak but listen... In other words, be quiet. You must be quiet. You can’t hear God if you’re talking.
When we are quiet, it stills our souls; it encourages us to listen and to hear from God. Oh, how we need to hear from God in the times that we are living in. We have many noise and distractions. Social media comes at us daily with lots of noise, and we are not able to quiet our souls because there's so much coming at us from different angles.
If we are honest, the scripture tells us to sit down and be quiet...It's not always easy for us to be still. I know I can be anxious because I want to be able to help and solve the issues and make things right, but God is saying, be quiet, sit down, and listen to what I have to say...
God is saying, I have divine directions for you..., but we are too busy telling God what we want and not listening to what he's saying. Let us be quick to listen and slow to speak. God's got something to tell us.
