Today’s Scripture:
1 Chronicles 4:10 NIV
Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.
God chose you when others overlooked you. You are chosen for more. When he chooses you for more, he enlarges you. Chosen is being singled out to be blessed by God. It means you are chosen to receive God's blessings from everyone else. Therefore, when God chooses you, He enlarges you. If you are chosen for a blessing, God will enlarge you. No wonder Jabez's faith was already at the place where he knew that God would bless him. So, he logically asked God for the next logical thing. Enlargement.
God never blesses a man or woman and doesn't enlarge them. Why is that? God's blessings always require capacity, space because his blessings are in abundance. Thus, Jabez says, enlarge my territory. I'm a blessing; enlarge me. In other words, I'm chosen for enlargement.
Here's the thing: after he asked God to bless him, he said enlarge me...that's saying multiply me. Multiply the blessings that you placed upon me. Somebody declare, multiply me lord. Whatever blessings result from my prayer, multiply it and make me great.
As the blessings multiply he waxed greater and greater because if God is going to bless me I need capacity to house the blessing so he says enlarge me! multiply me, increase me, enlarge me, grow me. It simply means Greatness! So, we are telling God to make us great. But with that comes enlargement to house the magnitude of the blessings.
Jabez positioned himself for a blessing, rejecting the negativity and name-calling, and positioned himself to be chosen for more by God. He had other brothers, but he was the one chosen for more. You might be going through it right now while others are living it up. But you are chosen for more. Call upon the Lord, and ask him to enlarge your territory and receive the blessings he's getting ready to put upon you.
