Description

Have you ever been there where you need God to show up and do it with quickness? I mean, you believe in God with all your heart. He's been there for you and delivered you before, but this time, it seems like he's taking too long, and you need him to deliver right now. David says in our text, "I am poor and needy" he is recognizing and owning the fact that he's powerless without God, he is coming to God saying...if you don't do something I won't get out of this one. Such a prayer is powerful because it shows total reliance on God, not self.

It also shows humility and reliability. David knows he cannot handle what he's dealing with without God's help. We, too, must come to a place where we understand and acknowledge that we cannot get out of what we are dealing with without God. Sometimes, it's not God's delay that makes his deliverance seem slow. But he's preparing your deliverer.

David ends this Psalm by saying, "You are my help and deliverer." he clarifies that God is the only one who can help him. We must do the same. Recognize that there's no other help, and trust that even the quick deliverance of our God sometimes seems long, but we must still trust him and hope in him. He will deliver, and it will be right on time.
