Today’s Scripture:
James 1:6, 8 NIV
[6] But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.
[8] Such a person is double-minded and unstable in all they do.
Doubt brings about a lack of productivity, advancement, and accomplishment and results in disconnections. Doubt isolates, discourages, distorts, distracts, and divides. There's nothing good about doubt. However, if there's no doubt, then there would be no faith. For Faith to be activated, doubt must be present. Therefore, it is always better to live in a place of faith than in a place of doubt. Let's see what doubt brings into our lives.
First, doubt is not something that God wants us to have. He says the man that doubts is like the wave is the seas blown and tossed by the wind. That is serious; doubt then means you are unstable. You cannot be trusted. And because you cannot be trusted, it results in isolation because you doubt no one else knows where to place you. As such, it leads to discouragement. Discouragement comes from thinking that you're not good enough, doubting who you are and your capabilities, and the more you believe this doubt, this lie, the more discouraged you become, and the enemy rejoices because he knows that it will only spiral out of control.
If the discouragement wasn't enough, here comes distortion. So, not the truth is a half-truth because of your cover-up for doubting you have to lie, and things are distorted to make you look good when it was the result of your doubt. Doubt must be far from us. Such a person, the Bible says, is double-minded and unstable. Instability comes with doubt, and it always leads to distortion and distraction.
Distraction is inevitable when we live in doubt. We are not focused because we are always trying to figure out the next move, and we are never locked in and focused because we have to keep up the sports one or the semblance of. But God wants us to be honest with him. He wants us to live in faith and not fear that leads to doubt. God cannot use us when we are distracted, unstable, distorted, and discouraged. He moves on to someone else. This always leaves us divided, meaning there's an opening through your doubt for the enemy to come in and divide. He comes to kill, steal, and destroy that dividing, but Jesus says I come to give you life.
Let's walk in faith and not doubt because doubt always leads to a bad end result of distortion, discouragement, distraction, and division. God wants you to be whole, and he wants you to live by faith.
