Today’s Scripture:
Galatians 6:2 KJV
Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
Bearing up something, anything can be hard. We sometimes use props to help bear up something. It gives support, help, and stability so that the thing can be held together and be stable. Humans are uniquely created in the image of Christ. We are hardwired to do and be. However, there are times when all that we do and have become can be hard to handle alone. It becomes unbearable. In these times, we find it hard to bear. We find it hard to go on, and we find it hard to live.
Hence, in our text, the Apostle Paul writes, Bear ye, one another's burden. He knew that no one is an island and no one stands alone. If you do, you will fall, and you will stumble. But there's a way to remedy this problem, and that is to get help from each other because it is easier together.
He says, bear one another's burden. The word bear in the text means carry or support. So, in the context of the text. Paul speaks to believers regarding how they should treat each other, what to do when a person sins, and how they should be restored. Then he tells them to bear one another's Burdens, help others, support others whether they have sinned or not, and give them support, regardless of the need, moral, emotional, or practical. What does this do? It makes the burden lighter for the other person to carry because you've come alongside them to help.
it's easier together. One cannot handle the traumas of life. Having another there to help gives support so that the person in the situation finds hope. This highlights the fact that community is important. A community of believers gives us the help and support to make it when things get hard and burdensome. It is always easier together.
This scripture again highlights the need for community, and this is why Paul says to fulfill the law of Christ. Christ was and is all about community and love in a community where we help each other to bear our burdens. It's easier together.
When you come alongside me and hold my bag, it takes the load off of my shoulders; when you help me through my struggles, it helps me to get better sooner than carrying it alone, where depression and anxiety take over my life. It's more than just praying and fasting; we need to help each other practically and spiritually because it is easier together.
Family, be a burden bearer for someone else. Help carry the load for your friend or even for your pastor. You will be doing them a great service and giving great help. When we do this, we are acting like Christ. Make it easier for someone else today and show love and support to those in need on their Christian journey.
