It is not always easy to rejoice or give thanks when dealing with different and difficult circumstances. But Paul is speaking to a Church that is coping with persecution and hardships, and he wants them to give thanks in all circumstances and rejoice always. Even in the persecution that they are facing right now.
Giving thanks to God is not and should not be determined by our circumstances, but it must be based on who God is, which is enough for us to give thanks. Therefore, when things are hard to cope with, a Job-like experience, we must give thanks in all circumstances. In the end, family, it will work out for our good.
Let us be thankful today and know that God is at work on our behalf, and this, too, shall pass.
