Today’s Scripture:
Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for
the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Family, welcome to 2024!
This will be the best year of our lives so far. I am confident
that the God who brought us through 2023 will be with us in 2024.
In our text, Moses reminds the children of Israel to be strong and courageous. He says, do not be afraid or terrified because of them. We often fear the unknown or what lies ahead of us because we are unsure how things will turn
out. Nevertheless, God's word to us in 2024 is to be strong and courageous.
Being strong and courageous does not mean that we will not face trials or deal with hardships, experience loss, and setbacks, nor does it mean that we will never need the help of others. It, however, means that we should persevere,
fight, maintain our Faith, and never give up on our God. The text continues, saying, "Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Them? Who are they? Whatever your them are, it might be a financial situation; it might be marital, job-related, or people you know who are fighting against you and your progress. No matter what it is...God says, do not be afraid or
terrified because of them because he goes with you, and he will never leave you nor forsake you. God is Present.
Such a promise is what we will stand on in 2024. God goes with us and will never leave or forsake us. He is Present. Life's Happening, but no matter what life brings, I know I can rest in the safety and security of God's
companionship and protection.
In 2024, as life's happening, the Lord is with me. In sickness, the Lord is with me. Struggles, the Lord is with me. Abandonment, the Lord is with me; hatred, the Lord is with me; loneliness, the Lord is with me! My God is
present. I encourage us today and remind us that the Lord is with us, goes with us, and will never leave or forsake us.
