Devotional Scripture
The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. Psalms 18:2 NIV
The Lord is not only our Rock, our fortress, and our Deliverer but also our refuge and shield. Refuge in the text means shelter, protection from calamity, and placing one's trust in the source of the shelter. Shield in the text implies security and defense. Here, the Lord is described as our refuge and shield; he will be our protective shield. No matter what rises against us, God guards us from everything that threatens us, and nothing can penetrate.
God IS OUR PROTECTOR,
GOD IS OUR DEFENDER
God IS OUR SHIELD
I know it's been rough, and I know there are attacks against us, but we don't need to worry or be overwhelmed; we have a source that cannot be penetrated: Jesus Christ is our refuge and shield. I don't want anyone listening or reading this to ever give up on God; I know it can be challenging when we see things happening all around us and in our families that cause us to be concerned.
Be not discouraged; God is our refuge and strength; he is a present help in these times, and not only can we find shelter in him, but he also defends us because he is our shield.
Family, trust in the refuge and shield who is our God who gives us the strength to make it every day.
