Today’s Scripture:
Psalms 89:7 NKJV
God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, And to be held in reverence by all those around Him.
Godly fear is not the same as being afraid of God. God doesn't want us to be afraid of him. The enemy uses fear or the spirit of fear to make us afraid, but holy fear or godly fear is a fear that reverence and respects God. This type of fear draws us close to God. It brings us into His presence. This is where God is held with utmost respect.
The scripture says God is greatly to be feared. That's serious. It is saying God should be honored and respected as at all times. In doing this, we honor his presence at all times. For example, I love my mother, and I respect her; when I'm in her presence, I show up with that mindset and understanding. I cannot casually talk to my Mom like someone who is my equal. No, my Mom deserves respect and reverence. She's to be feared. Does that mean I'm afraid of my Mom? No, it means that I love her and respect her, and her presence reflects that.
So, how dare you show up in the presence of God with casual attitude, come into worship chewing gum, talking to everyone and acting like your not in God's presence. That's not reverence, that not respect, that's not honor. There's no fear of God. That's why God leaves and he doesn't show up in your life because there's no holy fear. God is to be held in great fear, and when we assemble together, he's to be held in reverence by all that's what the scriptures says.
Family, do you fear the Lord? I'm not sure if I have lived that life where I fear him at all times. We can't compartmentalize this. God is to be feared at all times. When you're in church and out of church. With friends or by yourself. In public places or in church, he is God. To be respected and feared at all times. Let's get back to holy fear of God, family and live in his presence with great fear, respect, reverence, honor, esteem, adore, and be in great wonder of our God. He's to be feared. He is to be reverenced, and respected. He loves you; love him back by fearing him with reverence.
