Do not be far from me, for trouble is near and there is no one to help.

‭‭Psalms 22:19 NIV‬‬

But you, Lord, do not be far from me. You are my strength; come quickly to help me.

Sometimes life can seem so lonely that you ask yourself, where is God?

Have you ever been in a situation where you question whether God is with you? You know the Bible, and you are living for God. You are aware of the scriptures that say God will never leave you nor forsake you.

But for some reason, it feels like you're alone. It feels like you are just out here by yourself. Yes, that's part of the Christian journey. We journey with God sometimes in isolation because God sometimes wants to see how we do on our own, but he's there. Watching and rooting for us.

God is not into babysitting us; he wants us to walk on our own with the confidence that no matter what we are faced with, we know that we are not alone in this, even when we do not sense him or hear him. He's there; no matter what we face, we can handle it. This is how the Psalmist felt; he said, "Do not be far from me, for trouble is near and there is no one to help.". Someone is feeling like trouble is near, you're dealing with so much, and you're about to give up; you're about to quit because you're saying, I can't do this alone; I need help.

The Psalmist did not stop there; he said, " But you, Lord, do not be far from me. You are my strength; come quickly to help me." This is what we must say when we feel and think that we are alone: You, Lord, do not be far from me. You are my strength; come quickly to help me. You must help me, Lord. I can't face this alone. David is not focused on the troubles and problems he's facing, but he cries out for God's presence. Ah, whatever you do, Lord, don't be far from me. He is not asking God to change his situation, but he wants God's presence to be with him. He knows that if God's presence is there, he can face anything that comes his way.

Family, the presence of God brings deliverance; in fact, his presence is his deliverance. I'm encouraging us today not to focus on the crisis or the problem we're facing but on the presence of God and the deliverance his presence brings. Jesus felt like this when the father turned his back towards him. But he said Father, into thy hands, I commit my spirit; Jesus knew that he needed the presence of the Father; he could not do it alone. Family, God is near; even when it seems like he's far, his presence will deliver, and in his presence is deliverance. Trust him, he's near.
