Today’s Scripture:
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 NIV

In today's devotional, we'll cover three points to convey our message of encouragement to you, our Life's Happening family!
Point 1 - “It’s dark in here.”
Most kids are afraid of the dark & even some adults. What’s lurking in the closet? What was that sound? What’s behind the desk? These and other tormenting questions go back and forth in children’s minds. It’s not until their parents enter the room and turn on the light that they realize what they thought was something was actually nothing, and their parents/protector was always there.
Similarly, when we are in our “dark places” of life, our minds will also play devilish tricks on us. How will I pay next month's rent? How will I make it as a parent? Will my business survive the pandemic? We can be like the Israelites and forget the miraculous deeds of God in the past. It is then we need to gird up our loins & hold onto scriptures such as Psalms 46:10, which reminds us to “be still and know that I am God”. If God performed a miracle before, why can’t “I” believe him to do it again?
Point 2 -“I’m on the mountaintop & I’m in the valley.”
When things are operating smoothly, it’s like a well-oiled machine. The pantry is stocked, gas in the car, bills are paid, and you just received a promotion on your job. Life is sweet! The automatic response when someone asks, “How are you doing?” is, “I’m blessed.” But you’re still blessed when all these things go haywire. God is still present in the darkest of situations.
He may not reveal himself until the 11th hour. You may not even perceive him. But I hear Mother Cato saying, “Hold on, my brother!”. The truth is, he hasn’t forsaken us. It’s truly only in the darkest of situations that light shines brightest. Hold on, my sister!
Point 3 - “I’ve been there”
It’s sometimes difficult to explain to an individual what you’re going through if they have never experienced it themselves. When a person has experienced poverty, sometimes goes to bed on an empty stomach. When they try to explain this to a person who is well-off. They may not totally get it.
They can sympathize with you, but they can’t empathize with you. Sometimes you need a listening ear of someone who’s been in your situation or something similar. Hebrews 4:15 in the NIV says, “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.”.
God knows our physical challenges, our struggles when it comes to feeding our families, our inability to pay the bills and our staff.
Today, Be absolutely encouraged; the same God who made a way back in 2010 can make a way out of no way in 2024. Like a pit bull, hold onto Joshua 1:9, which says, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Sometimes, we need to be reminded that God is still there, even in the dark.
