Today’s Scripture:
Matthew 15:36-37 NIV
Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, and when he had given thanks, he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and they in turn to the people. They all ate and were satisfied. Afterward the disciples picked up seven basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
God never provides what you need, he provides more. He always provides more. In our story, there were leftovers after he provided. It was a situation where the disciples were concerned for the people who gathered to hear Jesus' teachings. In this passage, Jesus expresses compassion for a large crowd that had been following Him for three days without food. The disciples, concerned about the logistics of feeding such a large group in a remote area, questioned where they could get enough bread.
Jesus then performs a miracle by multiplying the small amount of food they have—seven loaves and a few fish—so that it feeds the entire crowd. After everyone is satisfied, the disciples collect seven baskets of leftovers, underscoring the abundance of Jesus' provision. This event is a demonstration of Jesus’ divine power and compassion, showing that He not only cares for people’s spiritual needs but also their physical needs.
The Bible said seven basketfuls of leftovers. The scriptures intentionally let us know that the baskets were full. The God we serve blows our minds by always giving us more than enough so that we can trust him in every situation we find ourselves in. He will supply you with leftovers!
Family, your God is a God of leftovers! He will supply with abundance, he's extravagant and extraordinary! He's the God of abundance. Trust him today, lean not to your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your oath and bring you into abundance, leftovers that we cannot explain.
