Today’s Scripture:
1 Chronicles 4:10 NIV
Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.
Jabez said to God, bless me that I will be free from pain. In other words, he says, give me good health and long life. But not only did he ask to have good health and long life, but he was not going to allow the label they placed on him to stick. He told God I want to be freed from the label placed on me. I want to be free from what they say about me. I want to be free from my past, my pain, and my shame, and I want to live free. I was made for more than pain.
I was made to be free! Freedom is mine. In other words, he said, whom the son says free is free indeed. He cried to God for freedom. Living is not living if you are bound up in pain. Blessing is useless if you are not free from pain and have no health to enjoy the blessings. In essence, Jabez said to God that the last thing I want you to do is rewrite my name and change my story from pain to blessed, from Jabez to Blessed. I do not want to live a life where I am associated with sorrow and pain but one of freedom and blessings. I was made for more than pain. I was made for GREATNESS.
He petitioned God to let the system of blessings rewrite his story, rewrite history, and bring him from pain, sorrow, lack, poverty, and abandonment to one of abundance and blessings. God, the Bible says, granted his request. God did it; God changed his story, and God rewrote history because one man prayed for change. I wonder what God will do for you when you call upon him to bless you and change your story. He will respond, just like he did with Jabez, and bless you because God is not a man who should lie. He doesn't change; he is the same God who responded to Jabez. He will respond to you because you were made for more than pain.
Tell him what you want. Tell him to change your name, your story, and your future from suffering to blessings, from lack to plenty, from sickness to healing, from loneliness to companionship. Change my story, Lord. Rewrite history and make me great. I believe if you prayed this and delivered this, God is up to something good in your life. Now, walk with that revelation that your life will improve.
