Devotional Scripture:
so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,
Colossians 1:10 NIV
At Christmas, things can be overwhelming, stressful, and just overbearing. We get into this mode of going, going, going, and trying to figure out who gets what and how much we'll spend on what we want; most of the time, especially if you have kids, you want to ensure that you've picked up the gifts that each child has been asking for and anticipating.
However, today, let us be reminded that Christmas is more than checking things off a Christmas list; it's more than a holiday; it is about pleasing God.
We please God in our good works, and that means what we do for the kingdom of God in this season. Our text says, "so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way."... If we are going to live a life worthy of the Lord and please him, Christmas must become more than a holiday shopping spree; it must become Christ-centered.
Here's what I mean by that: see the needs of those around us who need a break from the kids, and see if we can help out, see the family that's had a hard time and is struggling with providing for their kids and gives some of what we have for our kids. See the needs of others, and in so doing, we please God in everything we do. Just saying something kind to others can change their entire day!
Let’s Please God this Christmas season; you'll be glad you did.
Merry Christmas Everyone
