Description

Today’s Scripture:

I Thessalonians 5:17 NKJV
pray without ceasing,

Matthew 4:4 NIV
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

Desire vs Devotion

Why did Daniel pray consistently? He was devoted to God, and thus, he connected with God in prayer 3 times a day. It was more than a desire for Daniel; he was devoted to prayer. What are you devoted to?

Do you have a desire to pray, or are you devoted to praying? Desires say I want to; devotion does it and puts things in place to help us do what we are devoted to. Devotion to prayer comes down to your relationship with God. Not what you want from God.

Six Steps To Achieving A Consistent Prayer Life:

1. Praying The Word of God: Jesus said in our text that man shall not live on bread alone but on every Word that comes from the mouth of God. There's no better way to commit to the Scriptures than praying the Scriptures.
Praying the word of God causes it to be retained in your Spirit, and the word becomes part of your life.

2. Praying in The Spirit (Heavenly Language): The Holy Spirit is our helper; he helps us to pray. Ephesians 6:18 NIV says, “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert
and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”

Romans 8:26 NIV
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.”

3. Fasting and Prayer: Ezra 8:23 NKJV
“So we fasted and entreated our God for this, and He answered our prayer.”
Daniel 10:3 NKJV
“I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled;” these types of fasting and prayer give an opportunity to pray for others and not to focus on ourselves. Acts 13:2 NIV
While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Answers and directions come to you when you fast and pray. Paul and Barnabas received directions through prayer and Fasting.

4. Create A Calendar For Times of Prayer: Mark 1:35, “Jesus rose up early in the morning to go to a specific place to pray and be with his Father.” Jesus's agenda was clear; he showed his priority: time with the Father. This should be our priority as well. If it's on your calendar, it is a priority. Everything else is on it except for times of prayer, which means God's not your priority; time spent with him is not important to you. Put it on your calendar.
Prioritize Prayer with God.

5. Keep Praying; Timing is not The Issue: build a routine: start praying for 5 minutes a day, then build to 10, 15, or 20. Before long, you'll be praying for 30 minutes, which feels like 5 minutes. This is key to having consistency in prayer.

6. You Will Miss A Day, but that's okay; your goal is not perfection; it's consistency. Don't miss two days or 3 days because that becomes a pattern. So, give yourself the chance to miss a day, but don't miss two. Your consistency in prayer grows, and your life of consistent prayers becomes your devotion and not only a desire.

Family, may your consistency in prayer grow, and may your life of consistent prayer become your devotion and not only a desire. I hope and pray that these steps helped you to have a better and more consistent prayer life.
