Today’s Scripture:
1 Peter 5:9 NIV
Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings.
We are not in this by ourselves. Stand Firm. It helps to know that we are not doing this by ourselves. Peter, in our text, is encouraging the brethren who are dealing with persecution to resist the enemy. However, this is not an easy thing to do. It is one thing to say it but it is another thing to do so. Your need can make it hard to resist the devil. He knows where to hit us.
He is not going to hit you with stealing if he knows you do not steal, but he will hit you with something else that he knows you will fall prey to, like pornography, lying, or cheating. We must stand against these things; we must be able to stand in the word of God. Resisting the enemy means that we must turn to the word of God.
We need to stand on faith and the word of God. Another way for us to stand, is that our brothers and sisters are also dealing with the same issues, helps us to stand firm in the faith because we can encourage each other. It gives us boldness, hence why we need community because none of us can do this alone.
Family, you can stand firm. It is not easy, but God has given us the word and the tools to resist the devil, and he will flee; we must resist him and stand firm in this season when it is hard and tough. Remember you are not in this by yourself; God is with you. Stand firm, Family. God bless you.
