Today’s Scripture:
Isaiah 40:8 KJV
The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
There are many things that we put our trust in today. Many things that we stand on. Some stand on their finances, education, their status in life; they are the CEO of a Fortune 500 company; others stand on their connections and who they know. But, all these things will fade; there will be downsizing, there will be job losses, there will be board meetings and changes to the positions, and there will be market crashes and financial losses. There will be broken Relationships.
Yes, even the grass will wither, the flowers will fade, these things will change, and they will not always stay the same, beautiful and luscious. They fade, they wither, and they even die. It is said that nothing in life stays the same. If you can remember when you were a little child and how life was and how our world was. Today, it is totally different; nothing stays the same. Once you were young, now you're getting older. Nothing stays the same.
To be able to stand on something, it must be able to hold us up. We must be able to have confidence in its ability and capacity to sustain us. What can we stand on today? We can stand on the one thing that has stood the test of time for Generations over generations, over empires and kings, kingdoms and dictators. Nothing will ever cause it to fail or lose its ability to hold us up. I'm talking about the word of God.
The word of God will stand forever. That is our assurance that no matter what changes and what rises and falls, what's shaking all around us, we can stand on the word of the Lord. Family, we can stand on the Word, stand on Christ, on Christ the solid rock I stand all other ground is sinking sand. This makes sense in our present world. Everything around us is sinking sand, we cannot put confidence or trust in anything else than in the word of God.
His word has the capacity and ability to hold us up, hold us together when we want to fall apart and console us when we are discouraged and depressed; the word of God is our firm foundation. It has a purpose, and it accomplishes its purpose in our lives as long as we stand on it.
