Today’s Scripture:
Matthew 25:9-10 NIV
“ ‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’ “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut.
There's something interesting here when it comes to staying ready. If we are not ready we will be left out, left behind, and miss out on what we have been waiting on. Some of us think that we can make it to the wedding because of who we know. We think that we can make it to heaven based on our connections and the things we've done that we consider good. No, the Bible is clear. We must have oil. We must stay ready. In other words, we must have the Holy Spirit. We must accept Christ as our Lord and Savior. Heaven might be ways away, but no one else can give you their oil to get you in. You must have your own oil.
Hence, the Bible says, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. In other words, none of us can do this for you. You have to be accountable for your salvation and relationship with God. You can say the 5 wise virgins were mean, but here's the thing. They said we might not have enough for us and you.
What do they tell us on the airplane, in case of an emergency, or, "a drop in cabin pressure, oxygen masks will be released overhead. To start the flow of oxygen, reach up and pull the mask toward "YOU" Place the mask over "YOUR" nose and mouth... THEN, THEY say "Be sure to secure your own mask before assisting others."
Family, being ready requires us to have oil in our lamps, it requires us to have a contingency plan, it requires us to remain filled with the Holy Spirit by remaining consistent in his presence, reading his word, studying his word, praying his word, and fasting to grow in our faith. We cannot be caught waiting and depending on others. Everyone must have their own oil.
You cannot come in through the window or by any other means; it requires a front door entrance, and the only way in is through the Holy Spirit, through Jesus Christ. Have oil in your lamps and stay ready at all times.
