Today’s Scripture:
Ephesians 6:13 NIV
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
There is a Day of Evil that we all encounter, not at the same time, but we all experience this Day of Evil. The enemy targets the believer with one assignment: to kill, steal, and destroy. That is when we experience our day of evil, when the enemy comes. None of us are exempt from it. We all experience it.
Job is a great example of someone’s life that was going well but then the Day of Evil came when the enemy attacked him, his health, children, and even his wife left, and things started going down. Family, this Day of Evil comes to all of us. But here was Job’s response: he said, Though he slay me, yet will I trust him. That is standing.
There is no question about the Day of Evil. He said when he said, when it comes, you may be able to stand your ground; stand here means to resist, oppose, or withstand it. So, we must be able to oppose and resist the enemy. Using God’s word through prayer, fasting, and reading God’s word is how we overcome the enemy.
The second time Stand is used, he means: to present, stop, establish, stand still, settle the matter, and wait. Here it is telling us to be still, to establish ourselves, settle the matter, and wait. So, after you have done everything, stand, be still, trust God, and know that he is in control, and now it is on God our Father to do the rest. No matter where you are in your life, trust God, stand and establish yourselves, and trust God.
